i am currently living in japan, i have seen so many eco friendly effort here. epically before the g8 summit,
but see what they came up with?
they set a target at reduce co2 to haft in 2050!!!

and every company producing eco friendly products here seem to have only one same target.
get people to buy their stuff as much as it possible!!!
i am no kidding.
they all say something like, help save the earth by buy, buy, buy and please don’t forget to buy this too!!!

people talk very little about re-use, and “say nothing” about re-duce!!!

people talk a lot about recycle because those big company behind recycle biz make big money, then again buy buy buy and buy our eco friendly product!

how is the going green movement in your country doing?
is it all about gov’s pr and big company making money like what i see here in japan?

Hi! We’re about to buy a great old house, and both the kitchen and master bathroom will be getting a total overhaul. We want it to be as green as possible without breaking the bank…the house is lovely, but under 2000 square feet and in a modest part of town. So, it’s not really the sort of residence where you would spend a ton of cash on countertops. But with that said….if we’re going to go to the trouble of renovating…it’s important that the finished product be lovely, functional and interesting. I’d love some guidance with this! We are in Buffalo, New York. I know that in some cases, shipping can be a huge part of the cost, so that’s a consideration as well.

I’ve got the “Go Green Bug,” and wonder if glossy paper and light card board packaging can be burned, instead of sending it to the dump? Here we can recycle many products but not paper with a glossy print or finish. A lot of my junk mail and news paper ads are printed with a glossy finish.

I also have alot of light card board packaging which I’m unsure how to recycle. My town does not offer any kind of card board recycling. Can I burn these items?

I live in the country and have my own burn pit, where we have mini bon-fires. So which is best, burn or dump? I know it’s picking the lesser of two evils here, so only serous replies Please.
I am happy to say I do carry my own bags to use instead of using those white, plastic grocery bags. I found some wonderful bags that fold into an attached pouch making them so small I now carry them everywhere in my purse. :) Ok before I pick the best answer I will answer some of your questions. In town they do have a pick up at the curb recycling system but out here were I live we have to carry our stuff to the recyclable trailer.

I really like the idea of using the cardboard as weed prevention in my flower beds and garden idea! I do also have 2 compost heeps, so I can add some of my cardboard into that too. I just know that I will have more cardboard than needed for both these ideas.

I also just read in our local paper our recycling people are sending out surveys asking the public how they can make recycling better. I plan on taking the survey.

Choose three products that use ecologically conscious packaging. (Choose products that are not similar in nature. One could be a food product. Another could be a laundry detergent or a type of medicine.)

Anyone know any at all? I have no idea, help is very much needed and appreciated. Thank you.

I don’t get it…I was checking out some ‘all natural’/'eco-friendly’ products. Some are as much as twice the price!! I mean, they are all natural for gods sake! Why would manufacturing chemicals be cheaper to purchase then all natural ingredients.

Its crazy…to me anyway. hehe Thanks for the vent all!

Over all this stuff about Global Warming, people are forgetting about Pollution.

Global Warming could be real and it could not be. I say it is but that’s my opinion. But people won’t change over to different things because they think Global Warming is fake.

But we are all forgetting is Pollution is getting worse. It is slowing wrecking our environment. Like killing trees, giving us cancer, making the air worse to breathe, maybe ending our lives shorter. That is actually facts. Well maybe not all of them. They just came from the top of my head.

I really think people should start switching over to eco friendly products and do anything they would like Global Warming is real.

I mean you kind of win either way. You pay a little more for products but it helps with your bills which all that money will be back plus more.

Hybrids cut your gas so you save money and save gas that we soon won’t have.

And recycling is just good for us to save money.

Don’t you agree?
Also, I would like to point out, if we switch, we can actually help the ozone layer. No matter what, it repairs itself but we are destroying it faster than it can repair.

I’m doing a paper for a class and the topic I’ve picked is “marketing natural products to green consumers”. I need some ideas other than my own.

What catches your eye? Are there particular brands you trust? Or don’t trust? Do you take packaging into consideration? Or distribution distance? Do you look into companies or trust word of mouth/the package/advertising?

Really, any thoughts on Green products (other than a debate whether or not to use them-it’s irrelevant to me) would be helpful.

Oh, and by “products” here, I’m talking about little things like natural shampoo, eco-friendly dishwashing soap, recycled paper, etc. Just regular household products that you’ve replaced with environmentally friendly alternatives.

Thanks!
